Sonny Hunt

Alva "Sonny" Hunt, 83, passed away on September 25, 2026, in Hendersonville, TN.

Sonny was born on March 26, 1943 in DeLand, FL, to the late Harold Hunt and Reba Hunt. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife Dora Hunt, brothers Robert "Rob" Hunt, Clyde "Scrammy" Hunt, and Buddy Hunt.

He is survived by daughter Sharon (Steve) Hunt Maddox, daughter Danni (Sam) Hunt Scott, step-daughter Angela Stanton, grandchildren Dustin Maddox (Destiny Whitefield), Stephanie Noble (Joey), Jake Scott (Ashley), Jesse Scott, Tyler Lewis (Joseph Lawson), Alexus Cook, Hunter Stanton, and Johnathon Stanton, great-grandchildren Dayton, Maddox, Bryson, Wrigley, Josiah, Oakley, Nolin, Khale (Emilee), Lauryn and one great-great grandchild to arrive soon. He is also survived by Ann Hunt, mother of Sharon and Danni, special friend Linda Morgan, and numerous friends.

Sonny was a proud and devoted member of Sumterville United Methodist Church. He spent 42 years as a valued part of the Inverness community, becoming deeply rooted in the people, traditions, and friendships that made it home. As a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Inverness, he served as past President and was honored as a multiple Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of his dedication and service to others.

He enjoyed a distinguished career as the General Sales Manager for Nick Nicholas Ford before retiring. Outside of work and community service, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed many days spent hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was a devoted fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Florida Gators, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams.

Most of all, he had a gift for bringing laughter and happiness wherever he went. His faith, leadership, sense of humor, and commitment to serving others were an important part of the life he shared with those around him, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. 

For his Tennessee Family and Friends, a visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home in Gallatin on Tuesday, September 29th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. 

For his Florida Family and Friends, a visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory - Purcell Chapel in Bushnell on Friday, October 2nd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, October 3rd from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the Funeral Service immediately following at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ronnie Hunt officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, FL.
