Carl Johnson Cogar Jr., age 81 of Gallatin, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center. Graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the Sumner Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ricky Morris officiating. Macio Franklin, Malcolm Montgomery, Jay Tucker, Larry Mayfield, Bo Downs, and Harry Owen will serve as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and will resume on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. Mr. Cogar was born to the late Carl Johnson Cogar Sr., and Izetta Leggett Cogar. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was most recently worked the morning shift at McDonalds in Gallatin for over 10 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Cogar, and son Carl Cogar III. He is survived by a daughter, Ellen Gaffield (Brian) of Gallatin; son, Robert Cogar (Julie) of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Tanner Landon (Jared) of Blaine, MN, Dakota Gaffield, Micah Gaffield, Bailey Gaffield all of Gallatin, Shelby Cogar of Batesville, Arkansas, Shawn Cogar of New Kirk, OK, Caspar Cogar of Jacksonville, N.C; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Carol Cogar of Buckhannon, W.V; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
