Clifford S. Avrit

Clifford S. Avrit, age 93, went to meet our Savior on July 26, 2024. He was born in Maury County, TN on June 24, 1931. He lived in various places in middle Tennessee, and in Texas for eighteen years. He had a great desire to teach the Gospel of Christ to others, preaching in numerous small congregations of middle Tennessee and in east Texas, always trying to help others. He also, served as an elder in the Church at three different congregations at various times of his life.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Burnie and Rosa Bell Smith Avrit; his sisters, Catherine Klein and Nannie Margaret Avrit, and his brothers; Harold, Carl, Paul, Burnie, Johnnie, and Bobby Ray Avrit; Stepsister, Ida Mae Haislip.

Clifford is survived by his wife of 72 years, 11 months, and 10 days, Doris Grubbs Avrit of Gallatin, TN; daughter, Martha Assad (Joe) of Gallatin, TN; sons, Stephen Avrit of Pikeville, TN, Philip Avrit (Kaye) of Greenbrier, TN, Michael Avrit (Nelsen) of Antioch, TN; fifteen grandchildren, Alisha Kizer (David) of Castalian Springs, TN, Amanda Traughber (David) of Greenbrier, TN, Christy Burlason (Chris) of Murfreesboro, Dakota Avrit (Katelyn) of Greenbrier, TN, John Avrit (Heather) of Greenbrier, TN, Lea Keith of Madison, TN, Christopher Avrit (Jennifer) of Hermitage, TN, Mary Catherine Blankenship (Wesley) of Hermitage, TN, Hosanna Lawson (David) of Old Hickory, TN, Joseph Avrit (Glorianna) of Colorado, Seth Avrit (Katlen) of South Carolina, Jonathan Avrit of South Carolina, Elizabeth Avrit of Hermitage, TN, Nate Avrit of Antioch, TN, and Isaiah Avrit of Antioch, TN; eighteen great-grandchildren, Emily Kizer; Eli and Avery Traughber; McKenley and Landon Burlason; Niklaus and Marie Avrit; Norah and Gunner Avrit; Gabriel, Aria, James, and Josiah Avrit; Alina and Elorie Blankenship; Garrett Lawson, Caspian and Kalliope Avrit; sister, Faye Roberson of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Jerry Avrit (Kathi) of Unionville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Russell and Bro. Darrell Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland where John Avrit, David Traughber, Christopher Avrit, Dakota Avrit, McKinley Burlason, Landon Burlason will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the Anderson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main Street, Gallatin, TN.
