In Loving Memory of James Soper Green, Helen Adele Green, Walter Douglass Green.
The lives of James Soper Green, his beloved wife, Helen Adele Green, and their son, Walter Douglass Green, will be remembered and celebrated as they are laid to rest together in Gallatin, Tennessee, where the Green family's roots run deep.
James Soper Green was born on December 2, 1928, in Gallatin, Tennessee, to James and Emily Green. He passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 97. A graduate of Gallatin High School, James moved to Texas, where he met and married Helen Parker in 1949. Following his service in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he earned a degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1956. He enjoyed a distinguished career with Convair/General Dynamics in Fort Worth, retiring from Lockheed Martin in 1994. A man of faith, curiosity, and intellect, James enjoyed astronomy, scientific discoveries, history, and sharing his knowledge with others. He was also a founding member of River Oaks Christian Church in Fort Worth.
Helen Adele Green was born on July 30, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and passed away on June 19, 2018, at the age of 87. A graduate of Amarillo High School, Helen was a devoted wife and mother whose hard work helped support James through his college education. She had a lifelong appreciation for music, particularly opera, and sang with the Fort Worth Opera Association chorus for many years. Remembered for her kindness, intelligence, and gentle spirit, Helen treasured her family and the peaceful years she and James spent in their New Mexico mountain home.
Walter Douglass Green, their son, was born on December 27, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas, and passed away on April 16, 2023, at the age of 66, following a courageous three-year battle with colorectal cancer. A 1975 graduate of Castleberry High School, Walter studied drafting and built a career in construction, becoming a skilled master painter. He will be remembered for his craftsmanship, the relationships he cherished, and the special bond he shared with his beloved daughters-by-choice, Lacy Miller-Shelor, Lindsay Miller, and Sheena Miller.
Together, James and Helen shared 69 years of marriage, raising three children and building a life rich in faith, family, learning, and adventure. Their legacy continues through James and Helen's surviving children, Ginny Ballard and James H. "Jamie" Green, along with their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, Sisters Mary Morgan and Bill Glover, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Though their lives came to a close in different years, James, Helen, and Walter shared a lasting bond of family and love. Their return to Gallatin represents a meaningful homecoming, bringing memories and a cherished family legacy back to the community where James's story began.
