John Merryman, left this world peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 73 at the Ascencion Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born on April 4, 1952, in Steubenville, Ohio, John lived a life marked by dedication, love, and hard work. He proudly served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge, achieving the rank of MM3.

John devoted his career to the contracting industry, where he specialized in windows and doors. His expertise and honest workmanship earned him the respect and admiration of clients and colleagues alike. John was not just a skilled tradesman.

John was preceded in death by his father, Glen Merryman; mother, Nancy Merryman; sister, Jeanne Fox; grandchildren, Madyson Merryman, Chase Bingham; brother-in-law, Bobby Harned.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Merryman; son, Jesse Merryman (Malinda); daughter, Michelle Shuffield (Paul Shuffield II); stepdaughter, Pam Boles (Scott); stepsons, Darrell Harrison (Lisa), Danny Harrison (Amy), Mark Spurlock; along with cherished grandchildren Jayden Merryman, Camryn Merryman, Blake Shuffield, Bailey Shuffield; step-grandchildren, Daniel Harrison, Joseph Harrison, Jesse Boles (Ashley), Jordan Harrison, Eli Spurlock, Nathan Boles, and Anderson Boles. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Diane Adcock (#Ronnie) and Janice Brown (John), brother-in-law Bob Fox, who will forever remember his kind and gentle spirit.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate John’s life at a celebration of life service that will be held at 261 McNiel Drive, Murfreesboro, TN 37128 on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025 at 3:00 P.M.. Please come dressed casually as we reflect on John’s life, share cherished memories, and offer support to one another during this difficult time. A private interment service will be held in the Beech Cemetery, honoring his wishes and the love he held for his family.

In the years to come, we will remember John as a loyal husband, a devoted father, grandfather, an accomplished contractor, and a friend who brought joy to those who knew him. His legacy of affection and craftsmanship will remain in the hearts of his family and in the many homes he contributed to throughout his professional career.
