Mary Laura Cox Harrison, age 95, a lifelong resident of the Cairo Community, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013.  She was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church, a member of the Cairo Community Club, and worked for Genesco Shoe Factory for 40 years.  Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Gloria Scott and Rev. Bill Roark officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Womack, Royce Womack, Roy Link Womack, Edna Earle Mayberry, Wayne Williams, former employees of Genesco, and members of the Gallatin Gun Club.  Interment will follow in the Gallatin City Cemetery with David Barnes, Christopher Williams, Tommy Williams, Trey Harrison, Andy Shoulders, Kenneth Haile, Ronnie Love, and Lynn Love serving as Pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday, November 15th at 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  Mrs. Laura was born in Sumner County on June 13, 1918 to the late Roscoe and Ada Pruett Cox.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Abner Harrison; sister, Ruth Cox Haile; brothers, Tom Cox and Jim Cox,; and nephew Charles Homer Cox. She is survived by her daughter, Alma Pruett “Pat” Harrison of Nashville, several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
