Mina Sanders Baker Ring, passed away in Gallatin on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born in Gallatin, Tennessee on December 4, 1929.
She was a 1948 graduate of Gallatin High School, where she was a member of the Girls Basketball team, a cheerleader, President of the Glee Club, writer of the Class Song and Co-Outstanding Senior. While still in high school, she recorded several demo recordings for Randy Wood of Dot Records, and he discussed the possibility of signing a recording contract. She and her parents decided that she should take another direction.
Mina attended Bradford Junior College and Southern Methodist University. In 1953 she married Richard Ring, who was an Air Force Officer, and spent the next 26 years as an Air Force wife, which she enjoyed. While living in Germany, she was a soloist for the Munich Symphony’s production of The Messiah. She also served as choir director for several chapel choirs and women’s choruses.
Upon returning to Gallatin with her family, she managed the Potpourri Gift Shop and Brown Moving Company.
She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, served as President of the Presbyterian Women and was on several church committees. In the community she participated in the Sumner County Historical Society, Gallatin Community Chorus, and the College Women’s Study Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norval Sanders and Adelaide Haggard Baker, her sister, Mary Webb Baker, her brother, Norval Sanders Baker, Jr., and her husband of 68 years, Richard E. Ring (Col. USAF, Ret.) and is survived by her children; Baker Ring, Richard Ring, Mina Sturk (Bruce), Merriam Osburn, David Ring, and Robert Ring (Alison). Grandchildren: Cady Howard (Martin), Emily Graham (Kyle), Bradley Sturk, Claire Osburn, Davis Osburn, Zachary Ring (Allison), Will Ring, Elizabeth Ring, and Sarah Ring, as well as four great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Duane W. Ring Sr. (Jan), sister-in-law, Carrie Mabry, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 1 at Anderson Funeral Home, Gallatin from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Memorial Services will take place at Gallatin First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 2 at 2:00 P.M. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Gallatin City Cemetery.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of circle 2, Myra Garrott Choate, Betty Garrott, Carrie Mabry, Ann Kelly, and Mary Ellen Thomas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Choir Fund.
