Pastor Lewis Hunter

Pastor Lewis E. Hunter,  age 93 of Gallatin, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.  Pastor Hunter was born on March 16, 1922, son of the late Lewis E. Hunter Sr. and Ola Costner Hunter, in Fort Mills County, South Carolina

He served in the US Army during WWII, and retired from the ministry after 49 years of service to various churches, his last being First Baptist Church of Morrisonville, Illinois. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Inez Vaught Hunter; brother, Ervin Hunter; sister, Olivia Miles; and son-in-law, Rick Pembridge.

Pastor Hunter is survived by his daughter, Linda Pembridge of Gallatin; son, Lew Hunter and wife Pam of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Richard Pembridge and wife Shari of Gallatin, Kim Wix and husband Chuck of Gallatin, Kristin Crowder and husband Jonathon of Charleston, SC, Josh Hunter of Urbana, Ohio, and Katie Hunter of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Pembridge, Shelbie Wix, Patrick Pembridge, Luke Pembridge, Matthew Pembridge, Felicity Crowder, Ava Crowder; nephews, Frank Hunter of North Carolina, and E.M. Hunter of Georgia.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday October 24, 2015 at 1:00 P.M at the Beacon Baptist Church with Pastor Lew Hunter and Pastor Dominic Cardamone officiating.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Wards Grove Cemetery.  Honorary pallbearers are Luke Pembridge and Matthew Pembridge.  Active pallbearers are, Josh Hunter, Richard Pembridge, Jonathon Crowder, Chuck Wix, Patrick Pembridge, Bob Pembridge, E.M. Hunter, and Frank Hunter.  Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home, and on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the Beacon Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grace Today Ministries, P.O. box 24044 Indianapolis, IN 46224, in memory of Pastor Lewis. E. Hunter.
