Richard McWilliams

Richard McWilliams, a cherished member of his family and community, passed peacefully on January 3, 2025, in Gallatin, Tennessee. Born on August 9, 1928, in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Richard lived a life marked by warmth, resilience, and a deep sense of connection to those he loved. He travelled and lived in several different places from Pennsylvania and Ohio to positively impacting those he came in contact with in Bullhead City, AZ, Long Beach, CA, Las Vegas, NV and finally in Gallatin, TN.

Richard was the beloved stepfather to Cory Brooks (Bruce Quinn) and Thomas Perks Jr. (Debbie), whose lives he impacted with his kindness and guidance. He also held a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren: Heather McFadin, Michael Brooks (Sarah), Melissa Keith (Justin), Joshua Quinn, Holly Bartman (Josh), Danielle L-Ecluse (Kirk), Brady Grout, and Geoffrey Stevenson; plus his eleven great grandchildren. Each of them carries cherished memories of time spent with Richard.

Later in life he met Dene Hope Perks, whom he shared many wonderful years with until her passing in 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard McWilliams and Violet Frye McWilliams, and his siblings: Paul McWilliams, Elmer McWilliams, Harry "Pete" McWilliams, Jack McWilliams, Violet Rose, Doris Felder, Betsy Shaw and his son, Richard McWilliams II. Their memories remain alive in the stories shared within the family, woven into the fabric of Richard's legacy.

A memorial service honoring Richard's life will be held on January 14, 2025, at Charter Senior Living of Gallatin, located at 1085 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, allowing family and friends a time to gather, reflect, and celebrate the profound influence Richard had on their lives. He never knew a stranger and it is sure there will be many accounts of stories he shared, his love for country music and dancing up until a few days prior to his death.

Richard loved his home and all the staff at Charter Senior Living of Gallatin.  Any contributions or donations can be made in his name to Charter and will be applied to their resident enrichment programs.

Richard McWilliams will be remembered not only for the love he gave to his family but also for the lessons he imparted and the joy he brought to those who knew him. His legacy will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
