Sammy Dempsey Overstreet, aged 85, of Brush Creek, Tennessee, departed this life on February 5, 2026. Born on July 15, 1940, to the late John and Mattie Overstreet in Lancaster, Tennessee, Sammy was a devoted family man and a proud zinc miner, where he dedicated many years.
A hard-working husband, father, grandfather and friend whose love for fishing, the outdoors, and the sunshine was only matched by his love for his family. His steady hands, generous heart, and quiet joy in life's simple moments will always be remembered and deeply missed.
Sammy is survived by loving wife, Neda Overstreet, and cherished children: Delia (Doug) Oldham, Vivian (Eric) Becker, Kenneth (Genia) Tidwell, Kathy Swaim, Connie (Scotty) Jackson, Barbara (Gary) Walker, Melissa (Mark) Sloan along with 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Shirley Anderson and sister Dimple (Jimmy) Wilburn.
Visitation with the family will begin at 12 Noon until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bass Funeral Home located at 807 Main St N, Carthage, TN 37030 with interment to follow at Smith County Memorial Gardens where Kaison Sloan, Kolby Sloan, Kameron Vanatta, Jon Walker, Noah Cadenhead, and Christopher Tidwell will serve as pallbearers. Anderson Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
