Virginia B. Callis

Virginia B. Callis, age 89, of Gallatin passed away on Monday April 14, 2014 at the Gallatin Health Care.  Mrs. Callis was born in Weslaco, Texas on July 4, 1924 to Alfred and Ethel Butts.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Butts Jones, and son-in-law, Bob Young. 

Mrs. Callis is survived by her children; Steven Callis and wife Camilla of Canton, Georgia, and Connie Callis Young of Gallatin; grandchildren, Katherine S. Barker ( John) of Chicago, IL, Wayne Simpson (Wendy) of Cordova, TN, Pamela Callis Holman (Robert) of Jasper, GA, Julie S. Runels (Jim) of Lebanon, TN, Jan Callis Flowers (Kevin) of Gerrards Cross, England, Steven T. Callis Jr. (Joanna) of Marietta, GA; great grandchildren Videlia Runels, Isaac Simpson, Elijah Holman, Valera Holman, Abby Simpson, Madison Flowers, Morgan Flowers, Sophie Barker, Miller Callis, Owen Callis and Charlotte Callis; sister-in-law, Marjorie Callis McHale of Las Vegas, NV and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Mrs. Callis was a member of Gallatin First United Methodist Church and retired from the Tennessee Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division.  

Funeral service will be Saturday April 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home, 202 East Main Street, Gallatin, TN with Dr. William Morris officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gallatin City Cemetery with Wayne Simpson, Steven Callis Jr., John Barker, Jim Runels, Robert Holman and Kevin Flowers serving as pallbearers.  

Visitation will be held on Friday April 18th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 19th at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Gallatin First United Methodist Church, 149 West Main Street, Gallatin, TN  37066.

 Anderson Funeral Home, 202 East Main Street, Gallatin, is in charge of the arrangements.
