Robert Mayberry III
Robert Mayberry III, age 91 of Gallatin, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center.
A lifelong native of Sumner County, he was born to the late Robert Gooch Mayberry and Edith (Ring) Mayberry. Mr. Mayberry served his country, proudly, in the United States Army. He retired from over a 30-year career with TVA. He was the oldest, longest tenured member, and former deacon of the Gallatin Church of Christ, a member of the John T. Alexander American Legion Post #17, board member for the Christian Towers and the Manor, Sumner County Fair Association Board of Director, member of the Co-Op coffee drinkers, and a charter member of the Fellowship Club of Gallatin, and enjoyed farming throughout his lifetime.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ross Mayberry, and sister, Dorothy Mayberry McDonald.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edna Earle (Womack) Mayberry; children, Eddie Mayberry and his wife Betty, Robbie Faye Pruett and her husband Mark; grandson, Nathan Pruett; brother, Ben Mayberry and his wife LouDella; sister-in-law, Pat Mayberry; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service for Mr. Robert Mayberry III will be conducted on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gallatin Church of Christ with Bro. Julius Hovan and Bro. Doyle Farris officiating. Interment will follow in the Crestview Memory Gardens with military honors rendered by the John T. Alexander American Legion Post 17. Serving as active pallbearers will be, Nathan Pruett, Bennie Mayberry, Bryson Mayberry, Steve Hollins, Greg Schreiner, Frosty Gregory, Anthony Holt, and Joel Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Goodwin, Jackie Little, Bill Morgan, Bud Cage, Bud Coley, Donald Curtis, “Potluck Gang”, Christian Towers and the Manor Board of Directors, Sumner County Fair Association Board, Fellowship Club of Gallatin, Retirees of TVA Gallatin, Danny Greer, Scott Major, and Katlyn and Jerran Clifton.
Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M., then moving to the Gallatin Church of Christ for the funeral service.
